Abstrak: Pengamatan kualitas perairan Teluk Mayalibit, Papua Barat ditinjau dari kadar zat hara dilakukan pada bulan Nopember 2008. Zat hara yang diteliti adalah fosfat, nitrat, silikat dan parameter kualitas air lainnya seperti derajat keasaman dan oksigen terlarut. Contoh air diambil dari 10 stasiun pengamatan di perairan Teluk Mayalibit dengan botol Nansen pada lapisan air permukaan dan dekat dasar. Kadar zat hara dianalisis dengan metode Strickland and Parson dan kadar oksigen terlarut dianalisis dengan metode Winkler. Nilai derajat keasaman diukur dengan pH meter Cyberscan 300. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh yaitu kadar fosfat, nitrat, silikat, derajat keasaman dan oksigen terlarut masing-masing berkisar antara: 0,08-0,83 µg A/l; 0,04-0,48 µg A/l; 12,26-89,27 µg A/l; 7,65-8,05 dan 3,01-4,65 ml/l. Dari hasil yang diperoleh dapat disimpulkan bahwa kualitas perairan ditinjau dari kondisi zat hara di perairan ini masih baik dan sesuai dengan kepentingan budidaya perikanan yang ditetapkan oleh Baku Mutu Air Laut Kantor Menteri Negara Lingkungan Hidup (KLH) di perairan Teluk Mayalibit.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kondisi kualitas perairan Teluk Mayalibit, Papua Barat ditinjau dari zat hara sebagai indikator kesuburan dan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhinya.

Abstract: Observations of water quality Mayalibit Bay, West Papua in terms of nutrient levels conducted in November 2008. Nutrients studied were phosphate, nitrate, silicate and other water quality parameters such as pH and dissolved oxygen. Water samples taken from 10 stations in the waters of the Mayalibit Bay using Nansen bottles at the surface layer and near bottom. Nutrient concentrations were analyzed by method of Strickland and Parson and oxygen concentration were analyzed by Winkler method. Acidity value is measured by pH meter Cyberscan 300. The results obtained by the concentration of phosphate, nitrate, silicate, pH and dissolved oxygen each ranged from: 0.08 to 0.83 µg A/l; 0.04 to 0.48 µg A/l; 12.26 to 89.27 µg A/l; 7.65 to 8.05 and 3.01 to 4,65 ml/l. From the results, it is concluded that water quality in terms of nutrient conditions in these waters is still good and in accordance with aquaculture interests established by the Office of Sea Water Quality Standards, State Minister of Environment (KLH) in the waters of theMayalibit Bay.The aim of this research was to know the condition of water quality Mayalibit Bay, West Papua in terms of nutrients as indicators of fertility and the factors influencing it.
